Why we’re building yet another time tracker
Every agency we talked to had the same ritual: at the end of the month, somebody opens the time tracker, exports a CSV, pastes it into a spreadsheet, rounds the entries by hand, cross-checks the rates, and finally builds the invoice. The tracking was solved years ago. The billing never was.
Hourino starts from that last mile and works backwards:
- Rates are a hierarchy, not a field. A project rate beats a member rate beats the workspace default — and every report shows money computed exactly the way the invoice will.
- Rounding is a first-class citizen. Agencies bill in 15-minute blocks. Hourino rounds per entry, non-destructively, and the export always matches the report to the cent.
- The timer must be closer than the distraction. Our desktop timer lives in the menu bar with the running time next to the icon, works offline, and never produces a duplicate when it syncs back.
- Hours should flow back to where work is planned. Our first integration, Asana, doesn’t just import projects — it writes tracked hours back to the tasks.
We won’t out-feature the incumbents, and we don’t intend to — our comparison page is honest about that. We intend to make the path from a tracked hour to a paid invoice shorter than anyone else.
