Reports and invoicing
Reports answer two questions: where did the time go, and what do I invoice. Both start from the same filters — period, project, client, person, tag, billable or not.
Summary and detail
The summary gives totals with a breakdown by day and by project — good for a look at the week. The detail lists every entry, which is what you attach to an invoice when a client asks what those twelve hours were.
Rounding
Many people bill in blocks rather than to the minute. You can round to 5, 10, 15, 30 or 60 minutes, up, down or to the nearest block.
Two things worth knowing, because they surprise people:
- Each entry is rounded, then the entries are added up. Four seven-minute entries at 15-minute blocks, rounded up, are four blocks — one hour, not the half hour the raw 28 minutes suggest. That is how block billing works, and it is why the rounded total can be much larger than the tracked total.
- Rounding never touches your data. It is a setting on the report, not a change to entries. Switch it off and the exact minutes are still there.
Amounts
The amount is the rate that applies to each entry times its (possibly rounded) duration, summed. Only billable entries count. If a rate is missing, the row shows a dash instead of an amount, and the total says so rather than quietly under-reporting.
Exports
CSV for spreadsheets and accountants: one row per entry, with the day,
times, duration in both h:mm and decimal hours, person, project, client,
task, description, billable, rate and amount. PDF for sending to a
client as-is; it is a paid-plan feature.
Very long ranges have a cap (100 000 rows). If you hit it, narrow the period — and tell us, because it means you are the kind of user we should make this faster for.
What the free plan can see
The free plan reports over the last 90 days. Older data is not deleted — it is waiting, and a paid plan opens it up again.
