The desktop app
The desktop app is a small window anchored to your menu bar (macOS) or tray (Windows), with the running time next to the clock. It talks to the same account as the web app — start a timer in one, stop it in the other.
What it is good at
- Always visible — the running time sits in the menu bar, so a forgotten timer is obvious instead of expensive.
-
Keyboard shortcuts that work anywhere —
Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+Sstarts and stops,Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+Hopens the window. Both configurable; if another app already holds the combination, Hourino says so instead of silently doing nothing. - Offline — with no network the timer keeps running locally and finished entries queue up. They upload when you are back, without duplicates even if the upload is interrupted halfway.
- Idle detection — back from a meeting with the timer still running? Hourino noticed the machine was idle and asks: discard that time, stop the entry at the moment you went idle, or keep it. Available on macOS and Windows.
- Reminders (off by default) — a nudge when you have not tracked anything during working hours, and when a timer has been running over eight hours. At most one an hour, and it respects do-not-disturb.
- Fixing things on the spot — the running entry can be edited, including its start time, and today's entries are listed for correcting without opening the web app.
Language
Czech and English, picked from your system language on first run and switchable in settings (⚙) or on the sign-in screen. The choice survives a restart.
Self-hosting
The server address is configurable on the sign-in screen (under Server settings), so the app works against your own Hourino instance.
Where the login lives
Your session is kept in the operating system keychain — not in a file next to the app, and not in browser storage.
