Tracking time
There are three ways hours get into Hourino: the running timer, an entry typed after the fact, and the desktop app. They all end up as the same thing — a row with a start, an end, a description and optionally a project.
The timer
Type a description, pick a project if you have one, press Start. The timer runs on the server, so it keeps going when you close the tab and shows up in the desktop app too. Only one timer runs at a time, per person — starting a second one is almost always a mistake, so Hourino does not allow it.
Continue under the timer offers your recent entries: one click starts a new entry with the same description and project.
Entries after the fact
Add entry takes either a time range or a duration. Durations are
forgiving: 1:30, 90m, 1,5h and 1.5h
all mean an hour and a half. The entry lands on the day you are looking at.
The Week tab under the timer is a grid of projects by days for typing durations in bulk. Employees with a standard day set up (Settings → General) also get Fill standard day and Fill the week, which create ordinary entries from that template — skipping weekends, holidays and approved absences, and asking before touching a day that already has entries.
Fixing mistakes
Click any entry to edit the description, project, times or the billable flag. Deleting is reversible on our side for 30 days — the row is marked deleted, not shredded — but the app will not show it to you again, so treat it as gone.
A running timer is editable too, including its start time. In the desktop app there are −15 / −5 minute buttons for exactly the case where you started tracking ten minutes after you started working.
Tags
Tags cut across projects: meeting, travel,
internal. They are per workspace, you assign them on the entry, and you can
filter and group reports by them. Use them for the dimension that is not the project
— if you find yourself creating a tag per client, you want a client instead.
Billable or not
Every entry carries a billable flag. A project can set the default, so work on a client project is billable unless you say otherwise, and internal work is not. Reports can be filtered either way, and the total money only counts billable time.
Dictating an entry
Where it is switched on, the microphone next to the description turns speech into a structured entry — „two hours on the Acme redesign yesterday afternoon“ becomes a filled-in form for you to confirm. It is a shortcut for typing, not an automation: nothing is saved before you look at it.
The calendar
Calendar shows the same entries as the day list, drawn as blocks on a timeline — a day or a week at a time. Click an empty slot to add an entry, drag an edge to change its start or end, click a block to edit it. It is the same rows, not a different kind of data. Your approved absences appear as an all-day strip above the day, and meetings from a connected Google Calendar as hatched suggestions you can accept with one click.
Focus mode
The ◎ Focus button in the timer bar runs work blocks with breaks on top of the timer: 25/5 by default, 50/10, or your own lengths (a block of 5 to 120 minutes, a break of 0 to 30), with a longer 15-minute break after four blocks. Starting focus starts the timer — or attaches to the one already running — and shows a countdown with the phase: Work · 1/4, Break.
The end of a block stops the timer; a break is simply a gap between entries, not a new kind of time. When the break ends you are asked to Continue (a new entry with the same description, project and billable flag) or Finish — or you let focus continue on its own. Skip ends the current phase now, End focus hides the countdown and leaves the timer running, and stopping the timer by hand ends focus. The settings are yours rather than the workspace's, the desktop app shares them, and completed blocks show up as a Focus card on the dashboard.
